: : Well, I've moved again to LA from Boston just in this past year alone and my 850 is in need of some paint and body work. If anyone has any shops they could recommend in the LA area for the external work as well as regular maintenance, I would appreciate it. So far I've heard Long Beach BMW is pretty decent with a good body shop though there's an independant shop near me (Eli's) which I haven't checked out yet. Anybody have any experience with either of these shops?

: : PS> After getting to do some serious highway driving around here, the Dinan chips definitly have increased my mileage to over 22mpg.

: I have always taken my BMWs to NuBody shop in Gardena. They are located at: 16910 S. Western Ave.; Gardena, CA 90247 Phone is: (310) 327-7891. Their work is almost exclusively BMWs (with the balance being Porsches and Saabs).

I was introduced to NuBody via Vasek Polak BMW when Vasek service ripped my CSi spoiler off during a test drive. The work was substandard compared to other shops I have used. Instead of stripping the paint down to primer (like BMW requires for the rust perferation guarantee I believe), they did nothing more than rough-up the clear coat, fill in the scratches and spray more primer/base/clear on top. What results is a very thick, damage prone coating. Overspray is evident everywhere. Also, their color matching capability is antiquated, resulting in my car turning out three shades of Orient Blue.

Even though I made a fairly decent friendship with the assistant manager at NuBody I will not return, nor can I recommend their work.

Another paint shop to check out is Santini's in Orange County. VERY expensive, but world renound for top-notch work. I will take my 840 there for an estimate when the time comes to repaint.
