I can only attribute the offers I received to the fact that there are many perspective 8 Series buyers out there that have no idea about market prices or model year differentiations. This lack of knowledge leads these people to jump for the first mint 8 Series they happen upon.

Personally, I feel the '96/7 840Ci's are worth AT LEAST $5k more than a '94/5....so there is no doubt I would have anted up for the newer model if I was in the market for an 840. This thread has certainly made me glad I sold the 840 when I did...

And it was like 6 months ago, and the price is going down on these big expensive cars fast. 97 840Ci can be purchased for about 40k so why pay over 30k for a '95 with a 4.0l engine and a simple tranny (no manual control over the auto shifter)
