It sounds like you were able to sell your car quickly and for a premium... I'd wager as a result of the condition and history of your car(?). I hate to beat a dead horse, but for those not familiar with the 8-series market see the "95/5 Principle" post in the archives. Good 8's with all books and records, updates, etc. sell for prices much higher than posted Blue Book or other price guides. After seeing several 95% examples, once a buyer finds one of the rare 5% they buy it quickly and usually for significantly more than posted values. The market for other limited production BMW's such as the early M5's experienced the same issue as these cars aged. Nothing new, just a two tiered market. It is confusing, as at times as some owners of the 5% examples don't differentiate and mistakenly sell them for 95% blue book prices. But, for the most part the market seems to hold true to the two-tier structure.
