Typically it is not the spring that goes bad, but the small black plastic part that holds the spring in place. This plastic part has a small lip on it that eventually wears out.
The fix is fairly straight forward. I do not have the part number, but I recall the part costing about 15.00. Also, you will find the dealer will be willing to snap it on for you FREE once purchased. It took about two minutes.
