estimated labor cost for installing these parts is for 14hrs at $70 per hour. I was not prepared for nor expecting this at all (A)Should I get these done now?
And(B)are the part's prices to high (C) What should i get done? I feel that had I not needed to risk paying BMW $150 (if engine had passed test) to inspect my engine for there engineering mistake I would not have even been considering getting all this work done in the first place.
(if so where can I get parts from delivered by early next week)?
A/C belt=$38
Alt belt=$19
InspectII=$500 with 5hr labor,
oil return line=$66 with 0.50 hr labor
powersteering line=$80, with 0.50 hr labor
transmission output seal + shaft seal=$30 with 0.50 hr labor, clutch=$500 labor not documented,
Guibo(what's a guibo?)=$76 with 0.50 hr labor,
AC fan clutch=$150 with .050 hr labor,
O2 oxygen sensors x 2=$300 with 2 hr labor,
L&R motor mounts=$203 with .050 hr labor,
water pump=$132 + thermostat $16 with 0.50 hr labor,
L catalytic convertor $1451 with2 hr labor...
quote was actually $6,147 not 1900 I was looking at the wrong price the service advisor said.Yes engine did fail and will be replaced so I thought the lower quote was suppose to be my share, boy was I wrong, and i did not get a loaner still. Car is still at dealership.

Since my car failed the leakdown test last week do you think that if I contact BMW-NA anything will happen? I have owned several BMW's for 1/2 my adult life. Yet the Service Consultant keeps telling me they BMW dealership do not have a loaner available for me yet I continue to see a fleet of loaners parked on the lot every day and night (even when they are closed) we drive by(I live 2 miles away from dealership) on the way home.
The V8 engine replacement work is suppose to be done under warranty and if that is correct then we should be entitled to a loaner car.
I called the head of the dealership and she did grant me a full detail wax job when the work is completed. I asked for a loaner car from 2 people that I was told were the head of the dealership both replied the same on separate days. "I am not responsible for that dept and there was nothing that I (being head of the dealership) could do".
My wife and I feel that we should not have to bear the financial burden of accquiring a rental car when BMW-NA made the defective engine in the first place also since others have been provided a rental car during swap we feel that we should get one also.
Another major issue is the fact that the estimate I was given adds up to way more than $1900 if you add it up but it is wayyyy far less than the $6,147.00 estimate written down on the paper by the service advisor at BMW if I do not get a loaner car and some answers on monday I will be posting the jpeg picture for the full invoice up for everyone on the forum to see. I am located in Atlanta/Decatur Georgia.
When i asked how she came up with the figure she said there were some other parts not listed on the two page estimate (after I had specifically request a full written estimate be faxed to me) that I would need and she just did not bother to fax me those details along with her estimate she just "factored in the cost". She also went on to say that my car did not fail the leakdown but that "She got her mechanic to play with it some more.. to tryyy and get it to fail"...and finally he was able to make it fail thus, it did... end quote.
So the facts are car failed leakdown thanks to mechanic?, no loaner despite fact that this is a warrant repair, and a bill/estimate for 6,147.00 missing several thousand $$ of cost justification. What gives here? How should I approach dealership Monday. Yes I want my car fixed meaning engine swap but no I do not want to pay to take it somewhere else this is a bmw dealership... So all we want is to be treated fairly. I do not understand why she felt she could give me an estimate for 6,147 without having full documentation justifying this.
