Parts for the E31 go backorder about 75% of the time. That steering joint you're looking for just *might* be in stock, but I doubt it. Hell, most of the stuff I've ordered recently, particularly trim and plastic pieces, is coming directly from Germany. Not a good sign.

Rule 1 of DIY E31 repairs - order parts on Monday, wait the week for backorder delivery, pick up on Friday, repair Saturday, test Sunday, then repeat as necessary as you'll usually find soemthing else broken while in repairing the first busted thing.
