I've used the same technique with carbonated water, with good results. Mind you this was on an old carbonated car, and I don't think it would be wise on a fuel-injected motor, as the fluid has to pass sensitive equipment. The procedure is to let about 1/2 a liter slowly through the intake. The engine will of course stutter and complain but the cylinders get a nice cleaning...
This is evident by the black exhaust fumes.
But I would recommend using a fuel additive instead of this, let's say drastic approach... on any newer engine. :)
