: We first test drove the new MR2 Spyder. Not bad. It's certainly small (no front end to speak of), but handles really nicely thanks to nearly 50/50 weight balance. Reminded me a lot of a 914 and I've always had a special place in my auto-heart for mid-engine sportsters. I had the chance to play stop-and-go with a Testarossa, frightening the Toyota salesman half to death ("I'm a little nervous around corners" he says, gripping the handrest tightly.) I think the Ferrari driver was too busy checking out Mr. 2 to really punch it, but we kept up quite nicely. All and all a decent try by Toyota, but....way too small (on the freeway, I felt like I could change lanes under a Semi) and too under powered.
: So, after that, on a whim we went to the nearest Chevy dealer and I "let" my wife test-drive a '98 Vette. Oh Oh! She comes back with that sh*t-eating grin and the first thing out of her mouth is: "You'd kill yourself in this thing!" "Whoo Boy" she says, "This is kinda like your car, but with more power and less weight." (Gee, thanks.)
: So now I fairly sure that my wife (bless her heart) has the hots for a Corvette. My only saving grace is that I'm pretty sure that it won't fit in the garage (we've got an older house with only one tiny garage). Now, my problem ..... how do I convince her that what she really wants is another 850!
