The manual states in section 32 00 600 that the first step is bring the steering gear to straight ahead position by aligning the marks on the steering case and steering shaft. This maybe would be a good check to see where your offset is located. It goes on to state for toein alignment "loosen both tie rod mounting bolts. adjust the toe of left and right wheels by turning the threaded sleeve."

I will leave it to you to be the judge of whether the same rotation of the threaded sleeve on both sides will leave the toe in unchanged. Seems like it should.

While we are on the subject of steering I recently had the front wheels aligned and because they looked like they needed it,the upper trust arm bushings replaced on my 840Ci. Just about 200% improvement in the steering feel!! Before the car felt like it was following the groves in the road but is now rock steady. (840Ci with 107k miles).
