: Can anyone recommend a locking lug nut to protect tires and wheels from theft?
: I am familiar with 2 styles from BMW. One uses a spline key that does not look unique -- that is anyone with the same type of key could remove the lug.
: The other uses a regular key to remove a cap that has a 17 mm hex nut underneath. This one seemed difficult to get on and off.

I use the factory spline key type and they are coded. Had to replace one on my E36 last year and they couldn't do it without the number stamped on the old one. Not sure how many different types there are though.
