They certainly are still around. They have a website at http://www.hofco.com (which isn't that great) and I did actually give them a call and they said that for $10 they will do a full diagnostics on your alarm as well as give you a manual and for $49 you can get a new keyfob (remote). My main reason for wanting to get in touch with them is that my keyfob didn't work when I purchased my e31. After replacing the batteries I was delighted that it worked right away giving me keyless entry to boot, unfortunately, there are times when I have to press the arm/disarm numerous times before I get a response.
