Hi Steve

This is of course just a guess, but it could be that you have a faulty gear selection microswitch. There is a switch to tell the system what gear you are in. The stealer could read out the OBC to see if this is the case.
I don't know the 8 that well, but could it be loose and this is why jiggling the gear selector around corrects it?
