: Further discovery yesterday which might also explain the 'trans fail-safe prog' error.
: I was using cruise control on the motorway for the first time yesterday when it suddenly cut out and would not re engage. At this point I noticed the dash LED display was showing 'A' instead of 'AD'. Jiggled the shift lever and the D came back and cruise control returned.
: Also, I had the trans failure fault 3 times on the way to work yesterday and the day before (frequency of the fault was increasing) but by watching the display and jiggling the lever every time the D went out I had no problem at all on the way home or on the way in this morning.
: Anyone else had problems with slack in the shift lever? Anyone know of a potential fix?
: Stealer has jerked me around on reading out the on board fault data and I now have to go Friday rather than today so I thought I would post this in the meantime.
: Thanks.
You say your car is a Ci, does that mean it has the 5-speed steptronic (just curious; because I don't know what's causing the problem; sounds like a readout malfunction) ?
