Got the diagnostic data today. Error code 14 which is described as 'accelerator pedal depressed when transmission in neutral or park'.

So, it is the shift lever problem and not a transmission failure (breathes a sigh of relief).

I want to take a look under the selector cover myself just to see if I can detect the problem from the top side. Anyone ever had the transmission selector cover off? How did you do it?
