If your problem is what I think it is, heres a way to close it. When LIGHTLY pushing down on the ashtray door to close, LIGHTLY push towards the hinges as well (away from you). Make sure you dont push farther down than its supposed to stay. It might take a couple trys, but after the first few times, youll be an ashtray closing pro!

: I was wondering if anyone could suggest a solution to an annoying problem with my ashtray. The ashtray will not stay closed, I have takem it to the dealer and they are saying that the whole assembly ($350-$400) needs to be replaced. I was wondering if there was a quick fix or do I need to buy the whole assembly (the interior trim is "bird's eye maple"
