Even the smallest thing can be a nuisance...
I had the same problem.

- It was missing a shaft (the one at the towards the back; I added a little nut and bolt with loctite)
- it uses a little damper to keep the lid from popping the hard way; the damper is a rack-and-pinion setup (if that's the correct word for it; also seen on many tapedecks to keep the lid from popping open to fast), the little gearwheel had broken of. I glued it on again...et voila, it works.
