The power steering pump supplies the pressure through a pressure controlling regulator to the power steering and the brake hydraulic booster. There is a hydraulic resevoir that stores a pressure for about 10-20 brake actuations after the engine is stopped. You should press the brake pedal about 20 times to make sure the pressure is reduced and the fluid is back in the storage tank when checking the fluid level in the storage tank.

I found the Pentosin CHF11.S at a parts dealer for about $22 for a liter can. It was $80 to $100 dollars at the dealers.
