Specifications for the Hifi Amplifier? (archive)

I have a quick question about the HiFi Amplifier in a
Euro E31. My car has a BMW Bavaria C Business RDS Radio
with a CD-changer. Everything works fine in the system
except for when I try to pump some extra bass during a
ride. The low frequence speakers in the front just
don't seem to be able to cope with this and the bass
sound comes out with quite some distortion.

For this reason I am thinking about installing some
extra bass speakers or a bass box in the back and of
course I have to fiddle a bit with the amplifier to do
this.

I have found the amplifier by using the Popular
Mechanics CD from AllData, but I fail to find any
detailed specification on the amplifier of my 1993
E31. So here are some questions...

1) Has anyone here done a similar job on the audio
system? Maybe I could get some advice from you?

2) Does anyone have a detailed spec. on the input/
output connections of the amplifier?

3) Should I maybe just try to change the bass speakers
to better quality ones instead of installing new
ones in the back or a bass box?
