I'm thinking about buying a 91 850i 56k. I had a pre purchase inspection done it from a independent bmw repair shop. The car comes with an extended warrranty that is bumper to bumper up to 2003 or 99k. 2 set of wheels. the car has records except for for two years 96 and 98. Here is what the shop informed me: The car has an oil leak from the left valve cover gasket (being repaired by owner), This is the strange thing the car has no dents or scratches, the paint looks like glass. the shop had to really look and find if the car had been repainted and the shop said they found one flaw under the hood, a very tiny spot of paint on a rubber piece. the shop also said no sign at all of body damage. I was told by the shop that who ever painted the car did better than the original paint job. He said whoever had it painted paid at least 7k for the job. He told me I could not deduct for repainting but the current owner should add for the paint job. The inside of the car smells and looks brand new. I really mean brand new. the car just had new brakes, plugs, wires and new wheels and tires. It also has the originals. The current owner is the 3rd owner and he bought it last year from a dealer. We came to a price of 24.5k. Is this car worth buying? How much would you pay? Thanks for your advice. P.S.G.
