The 540 6 sp comes w/ sports pkg, and therefore should have the Z tires.

I picked up my 540 in Munich last October, and it is definitely 155 limited. Perhaps BMW has changed policy for 2001?

My 2000 540iA is electronically limited to 155 mph. The cars delivered w/o Z rated tires (eg non Sport 540's) have lower speed limiters.

The aftermarket chips relieve the speed limiters in most cases.

I'm looking for a 850 CSI or 850 6 sp. Anyone interested?

My co-worker is doing a European delivery of a 2000 540i 6 speed and apparently that one will be getting a 138 mpg speed limiter. I guess it doesn't have Z rated tires.
