If it looks as good as you claim, I would simply take it on the highway, and drive the you know what out of it. After 30 minutes of high speed driving, and sharp acceleration/braking, I would take it by the mechanic again, and listen to the motor.

Here are a few hints to look for:

1) Does it drive straight?
2)Any front/rear end wobble?
3)If it is an auto, how well it is shifting?
4)Does it pull when braking to the left or rught?
5)HOW WELL DOES IT SRIVE AT HIGH HIGH HIGH SPEEDS? A car that has suffered extensive damage will usually vibrate or shimmy at high speeds, and seldom handles well/brakes straight.

For a car in the mid 20's, Id say it is a steal. If you don;t get it, please email me with the location, so I can trade my 540 in ot it!
