Thanks Loren.
The movement in the indicator was not cog driven at all but by a small plastic arm connected to the slider which shows the gear position. That arm it appears to click onto the gear leaver.Unfortunatly the arm is broken so I guess its find a ney assy or of to the dealer.I would like to know however what the arm looks like
Loren , thanks but could you give me a descripion of the bits. I dont seem to
Had the same problem, only mine was moving randomly around. The dealer said it was an expensive fix... the whole assembly. For the price (hundreds), I figured screw it... its in the instrument cluster.Odd thing happened... got an Alpina shift knob (yes, for my auto... very nice), and that's when I learned how to remove the knob... just yank it off... while I was down there, I spent about a half hour playing with those little pieces until I finally, pulled on it, moved it up in a circle and it snapped into place. Its hard to describe, but it had come loose and merely needed to be shoved back in. And it works just fine now. Wish I could be of more help, but that's how mine was fixed.
I also rubbed it in my dealer's face...
Regards,
Loren
