Infrared Door Remote (archive)

After heading to BMW's local nameless _r_m_n dealer only wanting to purchase a new infrared key remote
but ending leaving with a cut key due to the extravagant price of $225 for remote only and then i had to
program it and install key shaft easy enough but, PRICEY even for BMW. Does anyone have any help with
this issue or am I the only one who has had a expensive late night soak in the hot tub.
I have searched the archives but to no avail so maybe this thread will at least start a few of us thinking.
