KJK,

The 8's were BMW's most expensive offering so I'd be really surprised if there weren't a few posts responding to the typical "Ford Probe" flames like the one you found. Not pretty, but not typical of 8-Series owners either.

In case you didn't find it, a nice piece of ammo is BMW's published 0-60mph time of 6.1 seconds for the 850i 6spd. Once the car is updated to modern BMW standards its likely in the 5.7 to 5.8 second range (chips, free flow cat back exhaust, Plus 2 wheels and tires and a more realistic final drive of 3.15 vs. the stock 2.65).

BTW, thanks for standing up.

Was over here checking your archives for some messageboard ammo on 0-60 times (to stand up for the 850) and came across this post.

Yikes, especially this quote:

"Sure, or an overgrown Ford Probe, etc. The envious, jealous, whiners, and Wesley Mooches of the world will never give the 8 series accolades because they can never have one, and as such, it becomes a manifestation of their personal failures. Our society today teaches us to try to bring down the top dogs. The 6'er, on the other hand, has now depreciated to plebian pricing, and is affordable to the masses. Hence, the need to say how good it looks, to reinforce their purchase decision while conventiently overlooking the fact that they could finally afford it 10 years after it went out of production. The 8 series styling
is perhaps the most beautiful design ever conceived by BMW."

I love the 850csi and think it is a beautiful car but this guy's beautiful car should be rammed by every "Wesley Mooch" driving an M6. I can't help but think that someone who speaks that way is only a top dog becuase of a silver spoon rammed way up one of his orifices.

Or, maybe this was just a joke and I didn't get it.

KJK 91 M5, another sad old BMW
