Let's keep things in proper context. After reading your message, I went back to the archives (first time I've used them - pretty cool resource)to see what this thread was all about. The original post was a flame of 8's, and the paragraph you chose to reproduce was only a part of one of many responses by 8 owners defending their choice of the E31. Here's the original post (let's not start another flame war of M6 versus 850):

Sorry to cross over into 8series land folks, but have been debating with friend who recently purchased an 850CSI and who insists his car is superior to my own Mpowered 6 series. He even allowed me to drive the his new beast for a weekend. While the 8series is a techno-marvel, cruises at 80+ hiway speeds like no other car on the road, and has its own unique look, it cannot hold its own in the pure BMW heritage and flat out fun ratio that my own six series does. Not to mention, I get far more admiring looks in my six than I did with the eight. One guy went so far as to say it was nothing more than an overly expensive Supra. (I know better than that)

I leave it up to some of you kind folks (and fellow Bimmerphiles don't forget) to attempt to KINDLY convince me the errors of my ways. This may prove difficult though,as it seems BMW also agrees with me, having made plans to bring back the beloved sex, er six series soon, with a powerplant that will truly kick some major butt on the roadways, while retaining much of the original lines which earned it a place in one of the most prestigious art museums in the world.<<<

Now if these arrogant, prickish comments weren't intended to rankle 8'er owners, what would? So I agree with Greg, 8 owners participating on this list are every much BMW enthusiasts about their cars as other BMW owners are about whatever their model of choice is. The only difference is that we 8 owners DO own the ultimate BMW and the rest of BMW owners don't ;-) And in many cases, 8 owners may own one or more "other" BMW's as well. And we love 'em all.

Steve, there were somewhat arrogant comments but "prickish"? That last paragraph in the response was kind of comical. It is great that he has our society all figured out.

Those guys that wait so they can afford the ultimate BMW's make up quite a bit of BMWCCA. Even if we had the money, many of us wouldn't drop $100k on a car.--though just like other //M cars you can get them pretty cheap these days. Let's just say he didn't sound like a guy I would want to have few beers with.

Any of you guys have a twin turbo? That would be a car I would love to get a ride in.
