Hello Everyone,

Is there an easy way to check to see whether an engine has been replaced to fix the nikasil alloy problem, or it is still the old version?

I purchased a 94 840CI which came out of a lease, and I just discovered this forum and started reading about this problem.

What would be the procedure to get the factory to cover the engine replacement if I have the old faulty engine? The vehicle has ~58510 miles on it and I read a replacement is good for up to 100000 miles.

Any information would be great.

Thanks!
Richard
