I just researched the board with the same question. I have a 94 840ci and ran across this post (see link) that answers how to id the Nikasil blocks, and some info on the warranty. My remaining question is that I purchased my car as a certified pre-owned with extended warranty, I assume I'm covered thru the duration of this warranty. Good luck
