I read on Edmunds.com that 1993 saw changes in the quality of materials used in the interior. What exactly does this mean? I've seen pics of all years, and the 1991's and 1992's really don't look that different from any others. I don't own an E31, but its information that would be nice to know once I consider buying one.

>>>>>>>I can think of three:

(1) A split rear seat with pass-through for skiis,
(2) the type of leather used for the seats changed from the thicker old-style leather to the current thinner glove-style leather with more padding, and,
(3) I believe, but am not sure, that the seat heat controls were moved onto the center console next to the shifter boot (from the inside edge of the front seats).

Even with these cues its pretty hard to tell the difference between an 1997 and 1991.
