Don't throw out the console insert yet. I've discovered that the mounting cup from the "car kit" for my Startac 7797 (ATT wireless) screws to the console insert using the same holes as the mounting cups for the Motorola supplied factory phones. Talk about a slick, factory-looking installation of the 7797 . . .

I'm currently in the process of attempting to integrate as much as possible of the existing functionality of the factory phone (use of indash microphone and kickboard speakers)as possible for use with the 7797. Also, BMW has announced the upcoming availability of (and may have released already) the 1900MHz antennas for use with the 7797. I'll swap mine out when I can get my hands on one of the new ones. Only thing I'll miss is the voice recognition :(
