Still Replacing pre 1995 engines? (archive)

I'm looking at 1995 840 with less than 100K miles. Is Bmw still replacing engines with Nikasil liners? If so how do I arrange before I buy the 840 that it will be replaced? Do I contact the dealer? The seller is not a BMW dealer.
