yes, got to the dealer with a VIN#. Ask them to print out the full info about the car. On that list you should be able to see any repair done by BMW dealer incl. engine replacement. If there isn't one or before 96 Jan. then you should ask them to get an approval for the replacement. They will only change the engine if the test shows the wear ! If the engine is oke but used, they will not replace it !!! Make sure you do the compression test before they do, and compare the info !
