I have had good experience with BMW of Darien (Conn). Mine is still under extended warranty and free service so I can't comment on cost (yet). They have been great on warranty issues including a new catalytic converter and windshield washer pump/motor. I did get four new tires from them a few months ago, and incl fitting etc they were very competitive compared to discount tire retailers. I didn't buy the car from them so I don't qualify for a loaner. It gets a wash every time I take it for service or wty job.

I keep getting Lexus literature (traded mine for the 850...much happier now!) and am reminded of one thing -

For all the cars I've owned, the service department at almost any Lexus dealer was far and away the best I've ever encountered. As I don't use any local BMW dealer for service, I'm curious to hear from those of you who do use the "stealer", what your impressions are.

The service folks as Lexus were always extremely polite, very willing to help and would replace small items long after warranty expiration as if they were under warranty. They always had loaner cars available. Their service techs were good and the repairs were always satisfactory. My car was always washed when I picked it up and in earlier years, they'd fill it up with gas, too. All in all, this is one of the primary reasons that I'd buy another Lexus (the new 430 coupe looks interesting).

As I said, I'm curious about Bimmer service departments. I've heard a lot of negative things and can see them here on the board, but not a lot of general impressions. That said, I'm going to stick to my local independent, who doesn't stick it to me.
