.....would the brace complement my Dinan Stage III suspension? Thanks....

Ray M....'97 850Ci

Steve,

The strut brace does look good. A couple of questions:

Have you noticed a difference in handling throught the corners?

When you rev the engine and there is the normal torque twist, do the intake manifolds come into contact with the brace?

When you close the hood, does the brace come into contact with the underside of the hood?

thanks in advance,

Castle must be off line for the moment, so I'll address the questions raised.
1) Yes, there is a noticable difference in handling--torsionally tightens up the front end and seems to "plow" less. Turn in seems crisper, and this is with 2.45x40xZR18s on 8 1/2" rims. It would be an excellent addition to the upgraded Dinan suspension.
2) In the picture that Steve posted, it appears his bar is touching the engine cover, but probably not. I used the thicness of a paint stirring stick as a template spacer, and the way the bar is manufactured, it clears everything perfectly, including when the engine rocks on its mounts when under torque load. BTW, the CSi cover (Motorsport) is about 1/4" taller than the stock cover (I added it), and there are no problems.
3) When you close the hood--and when I did it the first time it was VERY carefully--the bar will touch the underhood insulation, but NO metal to metal interference.
Also BTW, I was among the first to find these (actually beat Castle to a new gizmo), and paid about $150.00 more than the deal Steve has come up with. Bottom line--yes it's pricey, and YES it works. Phil Saitta
