Fuel Gauge problem (archive)

For the last month or so my fuel gauge will not read above about 70% full. Prior to this the guage would go to 100% when I filled up. In all other respects it's working - light comes on at low levels and it doesn't seem to be sticking at all. I read on one of the BMW bbs boards that this type of problem can sometimes be cured by pulling the instrument cluster fuse and re-inserting it, but I didn't want to try this without getting some additional input from you guys. Any thoughts??
