Correct as usual, but....
If you look down a few posts (What fun, poor Porsche), you'll see that Mike T. apparently has a '91 850i, which was sold by the dealer as a Ci in 1994. Trunk badge aside, Mike indicates that his factory door jam label reads 850CiA, yet the car is obviously an "i" (M70B50 motor, early build date).
I don't know what to make of this. Did the factory "cheat"? Are there folks out there with "mis-labeled" 8's? Hmmmmm.....
Also (for Wood), -40 indicates V8, -50 indicates V12 on the 8's.

'92 850iA
Thanks to James (see post below a few lines), the mystery appears to be solved. The early Euro Ci's CAN have the 5.0 L motor. (I love learning new stuff about these cars :-

Actually, the difference in Europe was that the manual cars all had the 5.0l, in fact in 1994 BMW sold the 850i and the 850ci.
