So, I'm thinking of all the non-believers about the twin super charged 850 by "Aluminum 8". I go both ways on this, only because I've seen other weird things. Take this BMW V12 powered hovercraft.
Yes, its our old M70 just sitting there powering this beast over air and land. In the text, under the engine picture, it literally says "BMW V12 engine used in 750 and 850 automobiles". How many of you knew about that one? So, I figure there's a lot of possibility out there. Even if a twin supercharged 850 doesn't exist, it certainly doesn't mean it couldn't. "Too high for the hood this and that". "Not enough space that". Hey, at least its interesting discussion.
Besides, I've seen some seriously raised hoods before... not out of the question. Second, I was staring at the Dinan twin turbo, and it had MORE space than our current configuration. The turbos could be easily seen right on the exhaust manifold, and the intakes didn't loop around. The air filter housings were gone leaving lots of space. Even the two DK motors were rotated, pointing straight down the nose and radiator to the front bumper and intercooler instead of left and right. Pretty creative repositioning.
And then I see this hovercraft powered by our engine, swirling massive fans and moving this thing around.
Anything is possible. Yeah, the graph looks fake. Then again, I'd say creating an 850 with that kind of power is a hell of a lot more possible than creating a frickin' hovercraft with the same engine.
FYI, the hovercraft is available for 1.2 mil if you want it. That would probably build a slew of twin supercharged v12s too. Just throw it at Steve Dinan, and I'm sure he'd come up with a nice group purchase for us... those of us who'd modify our beautiful 8s. Some of you like mods, others don't.
Well, my solution is this. If I ever get to the point where I can take my 850 to new levels, legitimately... twin supercharged kit included, I'd do it. And I'd also go out and buy a completely stock one because I'd want one unaltered. I'd just get two of them. After all, if you have the money for ANY turbo or supercharger kit, you also have the money to buy another low mileage stock 8. That's my fix, should it ever come to that. Best of both worlds.
