Mikael,
Thanks, I thought I should tell you that this hapened just after a new belt had been installed on the car, well......3 or 4 months old belt so I don't think it's my belt unless there is some manner of tightening the tensioner?? Worth looking into. Also, just for the hell of it I may put in another new Thermostat. I may try to get one a few degrees cooler, if they are available and if it doesn't fuck up the way the eng runs, these things truly can be so touchy. As a last resort I might try an additional or better front elec. fan and as the last, last resort there is a unit that can be put on the car which is nothing more than a pipe that runs horizontally across the top front of the radiator and is connected to a water bottle and a little power motor and when you hit the switch it pisses out a small stream of water vapor in front of the radiator much like the way many restaurants do in very hot areas. This water vapor will have an immediate effect and will work great but alas will last only as long as the water bottle has water. Sort of an emergency device.
I think I will try to find the problem first if there is one. I think we are pushing the edge here toward realistic cooling for any car under such circumstances. Let me know how it goes.

Have similar problem.
Don't think its teh fan, most cooling air is generated by the speed of the car.
The thermostst can be a problem, but it can also be the belt.
In my case when the engine is going hot the A/C stops/works bad, which probably is caused by a bad belt.
I will exchange my belt soon and will report....
