Checking the old and new Thermos before installing a new one used to be standard procedure in the old days, it seems that it has been forgotten or overlooked. Your right, a very good thing to do long before committing yourself to long hours of time before making sure that the parts are good.
Thanks, Kurt.G
Kurt, I posted the same problem 2-3 weeks ago. I just replaced the thermostat with a new one & I verified the old one only opened about 1/8 of an inch when placed in boiling water. Problem solved? No. I didn't check the new one before putting it it. I'm sure the new one is bad, but what are the odds of that? The front air dam is more of a scoop & mine needs some re attachment, so I have two things to look at now. Old rule though, check the new thermostat before putting it in, hell for that matter check the old one first. Damned hindsight! Larry
