The compression ratio in the pre-93 850i is 8.8:1 so very low, it is still require a high octane ? I always thought the lower compression means lower octane. I run premium (93) on my 840Ci because the compression ratio is high 10:1 but the manual says I can run on 91 octane.
Somebody also said here a few months ago, if you run on higher octane you damage the engine...
I found it hard to belive but interesting theory
