Vibration Damper (archive)

Within the last three days I've picked up a slight vibration in the engine. It seems to smooth out at speed but it's noticeable at low RPM. I had a similiar problem on my old Mercedes and it turned out to be the vibration damper. Has anybody run into this?? The service manual gives a very brief checklist for things that need to be removed to get at the damper but there's no diagrams.
