On the V8 It's one coil per cylinder, so in that case it's like a bad wire or a bad plug, can be a bad coil, but if as you say there is one coil per bank on the m70 or e31 or V12, then we have two coils and if it's going to act up then 1/2 the engine would die which would be much more like the engine barely running or in disable mode. Again, I have owned this car only for a couple of months so until I get down into the engine a lot of these things are going to be a big foreign. Thanks for the info. As far as the other problems goes, it must be an electrical problem as Mark suggested with shifting etc. or a gas problem as I suggested before.

There is a coil for each cylinder...

Uh, not on the M70. One per cylinder bank, controlled by it's respective Motronic 1.7.

That lag in power you're feeling is indeed the advance being dialed way back by the Motronic, but its to briefly drop power between shifts on the autobox, IIRC. Is your tranny or it's control unit (AGS) acting funny, lately?
