In California it is ILLEGAL not to have front license plate. However, I've lived without front license plate on my old MR2 for 10 years without being cited, and my new 850Ci don't have front license plate either. Why ruin the beautiful lines with ugly license plate?!

Hello All,

Does anyone know if it is legal to run a car without a front license plate in California?

The 8 has such a nice nose, it would really stand out if the darn ugly license plate wasn't there to break the lines.

I'd like to get a nice front spoiler upgrade and in the process maybe take off the front plate. I've seen photos of 8's without front plates, but I don't know where they were taken.

Any info would be great!

Thanks,
Richard
