I hear you're cry. I went through the same thing with my 850 6spd. Just wasn't fast enough for me. Is now. The 8's are rare enough that there aren't many tuners that focus on them. There are plenty of performance parts out there, but few realize they fit our cars. So, borrow from the other BMW "Sport" platforms. With an 840 just follow in the footsteps of the shared-engine e34 540i/ia cars and you shouldn't have any problem "waking the car up." As a starting point, Dinan's Powerdyne supercharger is a virtually bullet proof application and good for an honest 430hp, the rear can easily be changed out to a limited slip sports ratio from an e32 750 or e34 540, and (hopefully) the shift points reprogrammed with a Dinan or other chip. Try Korman, Dinan, Race Marque, etc. Cost is another issue, but you should be able to avoid buying a Vette and get CSi-like or even better levels of performance without sacrificing the reliability or comfort or style of the 840.

Help. I have a 95 840i w/20k. Now the complaint, It's not fast enough, quick enough, and no first gear shifter selection.
O.k. I love the car, I will chip the car, anyone can do that. That is a little, but I'm looking to buy a Vette or...I don't know a ROCKET maybe?? I need to work a lot out of my system.
Does anyone have a turbo kit(super charger), rear gears and a conversion answer to my shifter ordeal? Honest I love my "8"!
