California Detailing is excellent. Its a small independent shop owned and run by Jim Stavrinides (415-626-3691). He's pricey ($300+) for a full service strip and 4-coat wax, but when you see the results you know why. Deep, deep mirror finish with absolutely no tracks, swirls, fisheye, even in full direct sunlight. Great attention to detail and no excuses. They use the same 2-part aircraft wax used on Gulf Streams/Lears. Has to be mixed first to activate. I feel very comfortable leaving my car in his hands, which is more than I can say for other detailers I've ever used. He also has a paintless dent removal tech on Mondays that works miracles. Excellent for door dings--cannot find them afterward. Took a sideswiped Pathfinder to him with rippled door and he removed every last bit to perfection. Still cannot believe it was possible. I'll be there Monday to have a small ding from my neighbor's kid's stick throwing contest removed. Ouch. :-).

2 recent posts (by Eric and GregK) mentioned this shop. Could you please provide some specifics on your experience, who to talk to, costs, etc.? I have a new black 740i sport (I cruise your 8 series site too) and have some trepidations with detailers and their orbital buffers. Any info would be much appreciated!
