Sorry I got in on the end of this discussion but the only factor in an evaluation of paint on a car to me is the quality of the paint. If it is show quality all the way through, jams, hoot and trunk edges, perfect cover and finish of high quality paint, then I don't care if it was painted 10 times. The final result as you see it is the deciding factor to me. If you park the two cars side by side, I would pick the better job regardless of which it was. I have seen stock paint that leaves a lot to be desired. It's always a moment to moment decision, you have to be there to see and feel it. Good Luck,
Kurt
Your question boils down to 'if you have two pristine CSi's with 20K miles, would you buy the one that had been repainted or the one that had the original paint?'
Since a car that had only 20K on it should be pristine, I would prefer the one with the original paint. That means that the paint job has hurt the value somewhat. My guess would be around 10%.
