If you had the opportunity to purchase a pristine 850csi that had never been in a collision but had been entirely repainted by a BMW authorized dealer (Assuming the re-spray quality was equal to the factory job, or virtually undetectable) how would the resale be affected? Also consider that the car has sound mechanicals, and less than 20k on the clock. Would you still buy it? The confusing question is what is the unwritten rule where its okay to repaint a car that's so many years old; but not okay to repaint a that is just so many years old? Theoretically any enthusiast would buy a classic Ferrari that had been repainted (i.e 250GT California spider); but would walk from a 360 Modena that had been entirely repainted. Why?
