My mechanic and I have been chasing an intermittent glitch for a few weeks, and I thought I'd run it by the group to see if anybody has 'been there'. Eml light comes on, engine goes into a 1500 rpm or so upper rev limit in gear, 2300 in park. Gas pedal codes are 1234 & 2234(was 2235?? until last time), speedometer works fine, codes from diagnostic connection are 63(this may have been an old code never removed), and a consistant 73.This is the link I use for codes: http://www.baumtools.com/bmwcodes.htm Some days, it never happens, but once it does, it won't go away. Shutting engine off and restarting will clear it for a very short time, which varies. Seems to wait until car warms up, and seems to happen under trailing throttle at low rpms, but has happened at freeway speed (throttle position and rpm unknown). Let car sit for a few days, drive, may be ok, may not. Mechanic thinks it's EKM module. Next week, I'm going to take it to the best dealer in the area for a few hours of diagnostic time, but the message I'm hearing through the grapevine( mechanic's brother-in-law works there) is that we are playing on their level, and they won't have much to offer. I hope they have a few more factory tools to work with than we have. Service is up to date, fresh tune on engine(<2k miles). Your thoughts and opinions are welcome.
