Well my US '91's came with the two button remote. and has IR remote, and the receiver is in the rear-view mirror. If your remote is dead, you get them from BMW. I just DID it is a newer style I have this system working on my 91 the cabel for IR unit is on (passenger) right side kick panel around behind the panels. If you have this option installed on the car. If not the cable's two are tied up behind the carpet right side (passenger) on 91 this was option on the 850i
also I have the drawing for this I can scan and email If you want.
