1) My initial impressions between the two cars:
1994 850Csi-
...no doubt, one of the finest BMW's ever crafted and produced. It has that "oh my God" performance that makes you quickly forget how fast you're going. As I first got in the car, there was an instant recognition that you're in a higher-level 8 Series. After being accustomed to my 91, I took off like a rocket in the Csi! I had to re-adjust myself to the instant power on demand....especially with the different gearing.
The steering on the Csi was especially noticeable to me...more precise and responsive.
1991 850i 6spd
...after driving the 850Csi for a couple of days, I went back to the '91. It was odd...I found myself attempting to drive the '91 like the '94! The stock '91 6spd is no match for the CSI...however, I found myself pushing it harder. The '91 is still a kick to maneuver and drive...the Csi is just a lot more fun.
Heck, when are you coming to Denver to visit relatives? Be my guest in test driving the Csi while here.
As far as the price paid....well, let's just say it was market priced for a vehicle in that condition.
Thanks for sharing the word.

Jud! Congrats!
Curious as to the difference you feel between the two cars. I was never thrilled with stock performance as you know... then I slowly started doing the chips, exhaust, lightened a few things up, and my car became a whole different 850. Now that you have the Csi, I'm wondering how significant the difference between your stock 6 speed and the CSI is. Furthermore, if you can gauge the difference between a stock CSI and a modified regular 850, that would be really interesting. I'm dying to run into a CSI around here and give it a challenge for real world results...
Again congrats... and that's a great color too! How much did you pick it up for?
I will email some of my clients (bathing in money who really like my car) and see if I can get any leads for you...
