I've been watching the board for about a month now and there seems to be a fixation about mileage. It would be perfectly understandable for someone to be concerned with storing a car (especially this time of year with winter staring at us) over the months where weather is a consideration. However, in areas where the weather is good year round, wouldn't one want to drive his/her 850 every day??

I love my 850. I love driving it. I don't understand why anyone else on the board wouldn't want to. Not driving it would be like having a million dollars in the bank and not spending it. Why have it and not use it?? Better yet, imagine being married to the most beautiful woman in the world (name your favorite) and not ... well, you know, uh.... "take her out for a drive" on a regular basis. Imagine the frustration!!! Based on that, I guess I kind of fell for you guys in the cold-weather climates. At least you have the sense to keep your 8's out of the salt!!

I was fortunate to find an 850 with 125,000 miles on it for $20k. It originally came from Missouri and migrated to the Southern California area. I am the 3rd owner. Owners one and two maintained the car religously. I have all of the records. Owner #2 spent $18k in the last year in maintainence and a ton of Dinan upgrades. The way I looked at it, all of the things a car with 70-80k mies would need over the next couple of years had been done. On inspection of the car one would be hard pressed to tell the car was 10 years old with its mileage. It looks about a year or two old and maybe with 25k miles. Its that good. Fortunately, for the car's sake, it has ended up in beautiful San Diego. :)

I guess the moral of the story is, just like a beautiful woman it doesn't matter how old they are or how many miles they have on them. What's important is how well kept they are and that the miles aren't hard miles.

Enjoy them!! That's why we own 'em!!
